Building a Rep Rap

A Rep Rap is a self-replicating 3D printer that can print most of its own parts. I want to build one! This is sorta my build log.

Why build a Rep Rap?

Building a Rep Rap can be a rewarding and educational experience. It allows you to learn about 3D printing, electronics, and programming. Additionally, having a Rep Rap can save you money in the long run, as you can print your own replacement parts and even create new designs and engineer new print methods. I hope to try to get a grip on the entire process, and be able to come up with all sorts of methods to print all kinds of novel materials.

Getting Started

The project I’ve decided to start with is the mulbot. It looks like it’s just mostly 3d printed parts besides stuff like the screens and the circuit boards. It’ll be a good place to start! Maybe by the time I’m done we’ll have the ability to 3d print even the circuit boards! A true self-replicator. That’s the goal.
