Mixie Melts is a full-stack web application for a Wax Melts business. It handles everything from a website frontend where customers can place orders to the management of orders from the kitchen the wax melts are made.

Front-End

Mixie Melts Homepage

Mixie Melts: Warmth and Fragrance, Delivered.

The website front-end gives customers the ability to sign up, login, and manage their accounts. They can subscribe to monthly boxes, as well as buy individual melts in the store. The shopping cart is directly linked to the kitchen inventory, so you can only purchase up to the product on hand.

Login page

The login page. Can sign up via email or use o-Auth.

Customer Account Page

The Customer’s Account page. Has previous orders and the ability to contact customer service.

Monthly Mixie Boxes!

A monthly box of melts delivered for a low subscription fee.

Individual Mixie Melts

Ability to purchase individual melts!

When you login as an admin account, you have access to the Admin panel. This allows you to monitor and update inventory, track orders by order number, and see the kitchen ticket screens.

Admin Page

Admin panel allows admins to do things like update inventory and track order history.

Data-Driven

The frontend is data-driven by the databases in the back-end. The melts, boxes, ingredients, inventory, orders, etc are all stored in databases. The front-end uses React.js to transform that data into a website by populating the store, login, orders, etc.

Testing is done using Vitest, which uses Vite to simulate how all the HTML would be put together with the databases, and test changes against that. These tests are run as part of the PR process using Github’s CI.

Backend

The backend servers are done using Chi in go. Go is one of my favorite languages, so when I can do stuff in it (especially server stuff), I tend to pick go. The database is a typical postgre sql database, handled by the docker. If you were to deploy this to the cloud, you’d have to fix that. But there are usually pretty easy porting methods available.

Future Improvements

  • Mobile App: Develop a mobile application for easier access on smartphones.
  • Advanced Analytics: Implement more detailed sales and customer analytics.
  • Customer Reviews: Allow customers to leave reviews and ratings for products.
  • Loyalty Program: Introduce a rewards program for repeat customers.
  • Multi-language Support: Add support for multiple languages to cater to a wider audience.
  • Enhanced Security: Implement additional security measures such as two-factor authentication.
  • Ability to blog through md files
