Feed Me is an application I built to explore old social web technologies. It is a multiplatform application built with Fyne that allows users to subscribe to RSS feeds, BBS boards, and IRC channels. The goal of this project was to create a modern application that can run on Windows/Linux/MacOS/Android/iOS and provide a simple interface for consuming content from before the modern walled garden web.
The application is built with Go and uses the Fyne library for the user interface. It also uses a SQLite database to store user data and feed information. It also allows the user to use a url for the database, so updates can occur across devices. The application allows users to add RSS feeds, subscribe to BBS boards, and connect to IRC channels. The user interface is designed to be simple and intuitive, with a focus on readability and ease of use. The application also includes features such as offline reading, feed categorization, and customizable themes.
I built this application as a way to explore and learn about old social web technologies, and to create a modern application that can run on multiple platforms, and learn a little SQL. I also wanted to create an application that I could see myself using.
