A Snow Day

So, I’m going to try keeping up with this as the day goes on. Maybe there’s less crap to forget. idk. I had this idea at 4pm already so It is kinda already too late. Also, today was a snow day so I didn’t have much time to do anything since I was watching the kids all day. Every dish I cleaned was dirty as soon as I cleaned it. No net progress was made on the housework.

Now I’m out sparking and trying to make some money, because rent came out a day early and overdrafted us. Now we have to spark all evernings for the rest of time I guess. Well, at least I can get some blogging done during.

Portfolio

I spent some time working on my portfolio today. I want to add discus comments to my blog posts and portfolio entries, as well as add an image-to-ascii library to my posts so I can add images to my blog and they come out as ascii art to match the terminal aesthetic. One other thing I want to add is the ability to add health sections from the frontmatter, like what I did for exercise and food and health that day. That way I can collect and keep track of the data, maybe give it to a health tracking service or something someday, or try to analyze it myself. Oh, and a pomodoro section maybe to keep track of my poms and see trends and track time better. That one’s a stretch goal that may never actually come to fruition.

Disqus

Adding disqus was quick and easy, just followed the guide. I actually signed up for it back in 2018 when I started this endevour.

Redoing the Progress bar and more widgets

I want to redo the progress bars to use ASCI rather than images. This will make it more terminal-themed. I’ve lost motivation to do things in the car during Spark, though, so I’ll get back to this idea later.

Google Deep Mind Kaggle Competition

I got an email today about a Kaggle competition this weekend. Google DeepMind is hosting a two-day hackathon to build something using the new Gemini API. I will try to enter it this weekend. More details will be availble on the 5th when the competition starts.

The Rest of the Evening

Now I’m going to try to get some more work done on my portfolio and then play Mortal Kombat with the kids a bit before bed. I’ve been getting really good at Baraka.

That’s about it for today! See you tomorrow.
